We've received several calls: "Did Katy stop the blog?!"
Nope, I've just been busy! Thanks for still checking in, though!
The plan for the blog is unclear...I'd like to keep it up for all of us to post things that are happening in our lives...feedback??? I think I'll need to be the admin and have you all email me stories/pics. Like I said, not sure exactly how it will work, but I'll let you know what I come up with once the dust settles.
We've been busy divvying, packing, donating, and cleaning out Gram's apartment. Thankfully, Mark II is quite the mover/manager! He has been instrumental in making sure all the furniture gets down to the garage, organized, and distributed to the right people. Noah and Mark Senior have been the official "errand runners": Goodwill (many times), grocery store, you name it!
Chad arrived late Friday night and I picked him up... all the cousins were supposed to go together, but the "older" ones dropped like flies and were snoring! They missed out on quite the entertainment, though. Chad's bags took a bit, so I stood by the car to get some fresh air. He texted me that there were many inebriated fellows in the airport, one of whom walked out ten seconds later to make friends with me... I would have been less patient except the sight of him smoking an unlit cigarette and crazy conversation helped pass the time.
Chad got in trouble for "breaking" on the job. Put that phone down and get to work!
We found all sorts of treasures in Gram's place! This, of course, prompted a fashion show:
Shelley modeling the fur collar...practicing the "prom picture" with Mark!
I believe there was a purring noise that went along with this.
Noah said, "Who needs Oakley's when you have SolarShields?"
Mark Senior models the Bamby's patch.
We had 4 clearly marked boxes: Pam, Jaci, Mark, and Shelley to delicately organize all the goods. You can see how well that worked out...
Pop's military picture (2nd row from bottom, far right)
In a treasure box of Pop's things... Chad claimed the tie clip with a naked mermaid on it!
More of Pop's goodies
Mom's jaw has been bugging her. Dr. Plessas (family friend and orthodontist) told her, "No laughing, no yawning." Oops.
These Stargazers were brought by Gram's/Veranda Park maintenance man, Daniel. He has the brightest smile and loved Gram so much! He brought these to her on his visit last week and they have opened and perfumed Gram's apartment beautifully! THANKS!
There's got to be a movie character this looks like...
Still sporting the shades...
***WARNING***WARNING***WARNING***WARNING***WARNING***WARNING***
What you are about to see cannot be unseen.
Proceed with caution (and an empty bladder)!
This wig was called "COOL 50s Style Wig"....I disagree on all counts!
Family Friend Peg Pauck invited the girls over for lunch. I WISH I would have snapped pictures of the beautiful meal she prepared, but I was so busy gabbing and devouring it all with my eyes and mouth that I missed the opportunity! The conversation was great; her home was so inviting, warm, and gorgeous; and the food was out of this world...including a homemade peach-custard pie! No wonder Mark Senior put on the wig and tried to pass for a girl!
THANK YOU, PEG!!! That was just the break we all needed! So relaxing...thank you for taking care of us for a few hours!
I became the official auctioneer.... I'm not sure yet whether that is a term of endearment or not...
Uncle Denny is eye-balling to see where Jaci's picks will fit in their home. He's sees furniture rearranging in his future and is absolutely thrilled....
Chad says that making bubble letters is like therapy.
The worker-bees buzzing around!
Uncle Dennis rolling Jaci's new sewing machine
Jaci went through tons of pictures!
Pam was buried in paperwork. Gram's records were so complete...
...until Pam got a hold of the shredder!
We are all hanging in and more family is filtering in today. Pictures and blog to follow...
Looking forward to celebrating Gram's life tomorrow!
We are celebrating Shelley's birthday tonight at Outback and expecting lots more family tonight!
